So a quick update on my dad.
His physical and speech therapy are going great. It seems like his cognitive and thought processes are getting better. And he has so much more mobility now also. He's still using the walker, but those days are numbered now. He got the cast off of his wrist a week or two ago but his doctor wants to make sure his wrist is fully healed before he's putting a lot of weight and pressure on it by using crutches. The one little bit of bad news right now is that he will be on crutches and won't be using his left leg for quite some time. His orthopedic surgeon said that due to the extensive damage and all of the hardware and repairing they did, they are in no hurry for dad to be using his leg. At his age if he were to get moving too soon before he's completely healed it could cause some serious issues later. The last estimate I heard was another 6+ weeks before he might be able to start putting weight on it. But he's doing his physical therapy to work on bending his knee and getting his flexibility back. I can't wait to see him walking again. It's so hard to see my formerly very active and energetic dad sitting around. But he has gotten really awesome with his walker. He can get around pretty good with it. Now we're just waiting for him to start walking again.
